Adding Location Codes

To add location codes to your list of library locations, follow the steps below:

  1. Create all the new location codes (e.g., shelf assignments) for the new branch location in the Branches table.

Note that you must add a branch address for every new ILL department location so that reply mail can be addressed to the correct department.

  2. Perform and/or request the following updates:
    • Updates that Innovative must perform
    • Updates that you can perform if your library has acquired ASAA
    • Updates that authorized staff at your library can perform

Do not continue to the next step unless you have completed the steps above. You must make all relevant system updates before you add the new codes to any records.

  3. Add codes to records. Make sure all item, checkin, order, and bibliographic records for the new location have the appropriate location codes. Make sure course records and patron records have the new location codes, if applicable.
  4. Update any remaining functionality.
  5. Restart the Web server.
