Maintaining Circulation Parameters
Circulation parameter tables enforce your library's policies and practices within Sierra. For example, circulation parameters determine whether and how items circulate to patrons, the days and hours the library is open, how to fill holds, when and how much to fine patrons, and when to report delinquent patrons to a collection agency.
To access and edit a circulation parameter table, perform the following steps:
Erroneous or inappropriate edits to circulation parameter tables can have unintended consequences on circulation activity. Before editing a circulation parameter table, review Special Considerations for Maintaining Circulation Parameter Tables and the available documentation about the table you are editing.
- Select Admin | Parameters | Circulation. The tables available on your system display.
- Select one of the following tables:
- Automated Self Check-out Messages
- Automated Self Check-out Media Types
- Bookings Preparation (a.k.a. Preparation Periods table)
- Branch Addresses
- Collection Agency Settings
- Days Closed
- Deposit Collection Map
- Email Subject
- Float Determiner
- Held Item Delivery Locations
- Hold Pickup Locations
- Hold Thresholds
- Hours Open
- Language Preference (view only)
- Library Priority (a.k.a. Maintain Branch Request Order)
- Loan Rule Determiner (a.k.a. Rule Selection Table)
- Loan Rules
- Patron Blocks
- Patron Type
- Payment Types
- Pcode 3
- Pcode 4
- Predefined Charges
- Predefined Routes
- Statistical Group Maintenance
- Text of Circulation Notices
- Time to Reshelve
- Time to Holdshelf
- Modify the table entries as needed.
