Administering Global User Groups

To access the User Groups function, you must be assigned permission 724 (Modify Groups). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

The User Groups function controls the assignment of users to user groups. User Groups are containers for user logins that are deemed to be related by the library. The system limits the number of simultaneous login connections for each User Group to a maximum number that you specify using this function.

About the TOTAL Group

The TOTAL group sets the total number of simultaneous logins allowed for all groups combined. You cannot edit this group. Contact Innovative if your site needs to have this limit adjusted.

About the Concurrent max

Messages such as 'all ports in use' or 'maximum number of users reached' indicate that the login with which the user is connecting to the system belongs to a group which has no more licenses available or that all licenses are in use. If some users are receiving this type of message consistently while other users remain able to access the system, the Concurrent max setting may need to be adjusted.
