Setting Up Scoped Searching for Program Records
If your site has acquired the Scoping product, you can set up scoped searching for Program Registration, which enables you to set up scopes within which to search programs and sections on the WebPAC and in the Program Registration calendar.
To set up scoped searching for Program Registration, add all the location codes necessary for your library's programs and sections to the Branches file. These codes must be present in the Branches file before you can use them in the LOCATION fixed-length field of the program record and/or in the LOCATION fixed-length field of the section record. Section locations display in the WebPAC during the online registration process.
As part of the installation process, Innovative sets up automatic updating of the links between location codes in section records and in program records. For more information, see the description of the LOCATIONS variable-length field in the program record. To request a different update schedule, contact Innovative.
Edit the Location Mapping Table
For automatic upating of links between location codes in section and program records to work properly, you must enter location codes in the Location Mapping Table. See Adding Location Codes for more information.
When you create a program record with multiple sections in multiple locations, the automatic update process uses the location codes in the section record to populate the LOCATIONS variable-length field in the program record. You can also immediately update the LOCATIONS field by manually entering all the section location codes in the LOCATION fixed-length field of the program record. When the automatic update process runs, it ensures the accuracy of the location codes displayed in the LOCATIONS variable-length field.
Scoping Settings from the WebPAC
Scoped searching in Program Registration uses the same setting for attached records as the WebPAC. For example, if your system is configured to display information from all item records attached to a bibliographic record (regardless of scope), Program Registration likewise displays information for all section records attached to a program record.
