Renewing Items
You can renew items in Sierra in the following ways:
- From the patron's record
- Using the Renew (No Patron) function
You can either allow the system to calculate a new loan period for the renewal, or choose a specific due date for the renewed item.
When you attempt to renew an item, the system determines whether the item is eligible for renewal:
- If the renewal is permitted, the system updates the patron and item records and enables you to print a renewal receipt (also referred to as date due slips). In addition, the system takes special actions when renewing items with the following conditions:
- If the renewal is blocked, the system displays a message to alert you that the renewal was not successful.
