How Sierra Updates Records Upon Renewal

After you have successfully renewed an item, the system makes the following changes to the patron and item records:

  1. Writes the new due date calculated for the renewal to the item's DUE DATE field.
  2. Increments the # RENEWALS field in the item record and the TOT RENEW fields in the patron and item records.
  3. Sets the item record's OUT LOC value to the statistics group associated with the login used to renew the item.

If the Retain Stat Group on Renewal feature is enabled and the login has a statistics group of "0", the system does not update the item's OUT LOC field.

  1. Updates the LOANRULE field, if the Renewals: Check loanrule at time of renewal circulation option is set to "YES" and a new loan rule was computed during the renewal.
  2. Writes today's date to the CIRCACTIVE field in the patron record.
