Fixed-length Fields in Patron Records

The following table describes the fixed-length fields found in patron records. Both the short label and default long label (if one exists) are shown.

Patron Record Fields

163 CIRCACTIVE
or Last Circ Activity
The most recent date when one of the following circulation activities was performed for or by the patron:
The system does not assign a date to this field until one of these activities occurs. For information about how backdated checkins populate this field, see Backdating Checked-in Items.

CUR ITEMA (Current Item A)
CUR ITEMB (Current Item B)
CUR ITEMC (Current Item C)
CUR ITEMD (Current Item D)
Total number of items the patron currently has checked out from library-defined categories A, B, C, and D. See the Item types & locs for category A, Item types & locs for category B, Item types & locs for category C, and Item types & locs for category D circulation options.

This field is for system use and is not a real-time indicator of a patron's item category checkouts. The value in a CUR ITEM<x> field can exceed the patron's actual number of checked-out items from that category. The system increments the field when a patron checks out items, but does not reduce it when items are returned. Instead, when a patron attempts to perform a transaction, the system checks the value of this field against the patron's actual checkouts. If the values do not match, the system resets the CUR ITEM<x> fields.

055 HLODUES
or Highest Overdues
The highest level of overdue notice (1 = first overdue, 2 = second overdue, etc.) among all overdue notices recently sent to the patron. The Highest Level Odue element of the Patron Blocks table specifies the maximum number of notices a patron can receive before the patron is blocked.

This field is for system use and is not a real-time indicator of a patron's overdue levels. It increments when a patron receives an overdue notice, but it does not decrement when overdue items are returned. Instead, when a patron attempts to perform a transaction (such as checking out an item or placing a hold), the system checks the value of this field against the # OVERDUE field in each item checked out to the patron. If the value in the HLODUES field does not match the highest value in the # OVERDUE field, the system resets the HLODUES field.

By default, this field does not display unless your library has requested it.
