Incrementing Patron Copy Use Count

If your library has enabled the Optional Circulation Permissions feature for Count Use - Photocopies by Patron, you must be assigned permission 1062 (Count Use - Photocopies by Patron) to access this function. See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

If your library has had the Patron Photocopy Use feature enabled, you can increment the photocopy use count (PIUSE) in a patron's record and in the item record's COPY USE field. The Patron Photocopy Use feature also enables you to view a circulation report of photocopy use by time period and PCODE3 category. To enable the Patron Photocopy Use feature, contact Innovative.

To count a patron's photocopy use:

  1. Select Count Use - Photocopies by Patron from the Function list.
  2. Retrieve the patron record. If the patron has any circulation blocks, the system prompts you to override them in order to proceed.
  3. Enter the item barcodes or record numbers of the photocopies made for this patron. The system displays the following information about the items you scanned:
Title
The TITLE field from the bibliographic record.
Barcode
The BARCODE field from the scanned item record.
Count
The incremented value of the COPY USE field from the item record.
Status
The STATUS field from the scanned item record.

The system updates the records when you switch to another function or retrieve another patron record.
