Opening Registration

To modify a program record, you must be assigned permission 754 (Update program records). To modify a section record, you must be assigned permission 764 (Update section records). To modify a session, you must be assigned permission 771 (Modify session). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

To enable patrons to register for programs, you must open the programs and the associated section(s) for registration. Opening programs for registration enables patrons to register for a program through the WebPAC.

Registration Alternatives

You can also create programs for which registration is optional or not enabled via Sierra.

To open a program for registration:

  1. Choose Program Management from the Function list.
  2. Open the program record for editing.
  3. In the following fields, add the specified information:
Fixed-length Field Minimum Information Necessary to Open Registration
REGPOSSIBL Set the Registration Possible field to a value of  "TRUE".
REGPERPAT

Enter the number of registrations each patron is able to make in the REGPERPAT field. To enable patrons to register for more than one seat per section—for example, for themselves and their family or their students—enter the maximum number of registrations allowed per group representative. For more information about the REGPERPAT field, see Allocating the Multiple-Registration Maximum.

If REGPERPAT is set to zero, each patron can make an unlimited number of registrations.

The system counts past sessions when applying this value. Innovative recommends regularly deleting past sessions so patrons do not incorrectly reach this maximum value.

ELIGIBLTY Select the appropriate eligibility code in the ELIGIBLTY field. If you do not enter an eligibility code, all patrons are eligible to register for the program. For more information about eligibility codes, see the Patron Eligibility table.
  1. From the Admin | Parameters | Program Registration menu, open the Patron Blocks table. In the Max Programs column, enter the maximum number of current programs for which each patron type can register.
  2. Verify that the program record includes at least one section record. If it does not, add a section record.
  3. Choose Save to save your program record information or Close to close the program record without saving.
  4. One by one, open each associated section record for editing.
  5. In the following fields, add the specified information:
Fixed-length Field Minimum Information Necessary to Open Registration
REG OPEN Enter the date and time on which patrons can first register for this section of the program.
STATUS Select "ACTIVE".
MAX SEATS To open registration, enter a value in this field that is greater than zero. If this field is zero, the system does not open registration.
  1. Verify that the section record includes the sessions associated with this section of the program. If it does not, add sessions as appropriate.
  2. Repeat the above steps, as necessary, to create section records and add sessions for each section of the program you want to publish.
  3. Choose Save to save your section record information, Close to close the section record without saving.
