Editing Sections

To modify a section record, you must be assigned permission 764 (Update section records). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

Program Registration opens section records in view-only mode. To modify a section record, you must be in edit mode.

To edit a section record:

  1. Retrieve the section record you want to modify. As shown in the status bar, the record opens in view-only mode.
  2. To switch to edit mode, choose the Edit button. Note that the status bar specifies that you are in edit mode, and the Edit button in the section record becomes an Exit Edit button.
  3. After you modify the section record, save your changes by choosing Save. The system saves the modifications and switches the section record back to view-only mode.

To exit edit mode without saving your changes, choose Exit Edit. If you modified the section record, the system prompts you to save your changes. Choose Yes to save your changes and return to view-only mode, No to return to view-only mode without making any changes, and Cancel to remain in edit mode.

Room Conflict Messages

If your library has enabled the feature to detect room conflicts, and you have edited the LOCATION or STATUS field, the system generates an error message if a room conflict occurs. If you receive this message, you must resolve all room conflicts in order to save the section record.
