Printing Claims
You can print serial claims at any time after queueing them to print. The claims that are ready to send are listed in the serial-claims-awaiting-processing file.
If your site has enabled it, you can use Print Templates to print serial claims on a single claim form. Note that the system groups the claims differently when using print templates.
Before printing claims, you can:
- sort the claims
- delete claims from the file
- select only the claims you want to send
- limit the list of claims by vendor or location
- view or modify associated records
Locked File
Only one staff member at a time can view the serial-claims-awaiting-processing file. If another staff member is viewing the file when you switch to the Send Claims function, Sierra displays the message Warning: Failed to load claims to print. Claim printing is locked. and prevents you from viewing the file.
Printing Claims
To print the claim letters in the serial-claims-awaiting-processing file:
- Choose Send Claims from the Function list. Sierra displays the claims to print from the serial-claims-awaiting-processing file.
- Choose the (Number of) claims to PRINT button.
- Choose Claim Print.
- Choose your Print Setup options. These options differ depending on whether you are using print templates, as follows.
Print Templates
Choose whether you want to print all the claims or print only those you selected.
Without Print Templates
Choose the following:
- (Optional) If you are using a tractor feed printer, the system displays an option to align the paper. Choose Align Paper and then Print. The printer prints a test page, and Sierra prompts you to determine if the paper was aligned. Choose Cancel to cancel the printing process; No to reprint the test page and respond to the Paper Aligned? question again; or Yes to return to the Print Setup dialog box.
- Whether you want to print all the claims or print only those you selected.
- The number of copies you want to print.
- Whether you want to print "CLAIM" across the form.
- Choose Print. Depending on your settings, the system might prompt you to:
- select an output template (Print Templates only; see Print Templates Settings)
- select a printer (see Choosing a Printer)
- Sierra asks to confirm that the printout was correct. Choose Yes if the claims printed successfully. The claims are then removed from the serial-claims-awaiting-processing file.
Choose No if there was a problem with the printing; the claims are not removed from the file.
- Choose Quit to exit the list of printable claims.
Print Sequence Using Print Templates
When you use Print Templates to print serial claims, Sierra prints multiple claims on a single form if they have the same:
- VENDOR code in the checkin records. If the vendor code is "NONE", the system matches on the VEN ADDR variable-length field in the checkin records.
and
- RLOC code in the checkin records.
Sierra groups claims in this manner regardless of how you have sorted the claims.
