Checking In Items - No Patron

If your library has enabled the Optional Circulation Permissions feature for Check-In (No Patron), you must be assigned permission 1055 (Check in (No Patron)) to access this function. See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

To check in an item:

  1. Choose Check-In (No Patron) from the Function list.
  2. (optional) Backdate the checkin session.
  3. Retrieve the item record. The system checks in the item and displays its barcode and call number, the name of the patron who had the item checked out, the amount due if the patron owes an overdue fine, and the item's status.

To suppress the patron's name in this display, contact Innovative.

Note that when you check in items using the Check-In (No Patron) function, the system displays a running count of the number of items checked in during the session. This Items scanned information appears in the Status bar (lower right corner of the SDA window), and is cleared back to a count of '0' after you exit that session, or switch to a different function.

See Checking In Items that have Special Conditions for the messages and situations that may occur when you check in an item.
