Patron Record Display

To view patron records, you must be assigned permission 161 (View patron records) or permission 162 (Create patron records).

To edit patron records, you must be assigned permission 164 (Edit patron records).

Patron records display in one of two formats:

Checkout Patron Display

Typically, when you retrieve a patron record, the system displays information from that record in the top half of the window. For example:

You can specify the patron record data that displays in this window by configuring the login's Patron Display options. When you use the Circulation Desk function, the system also can display the following:

Patron information tabs
Tabs that contain circulation-specific information for the patron (e.g., Fines and Holds).
Patron images
If your library has acquired the Internal Patron Images or External Patron Images product, the system can display patron images.
Quick alert to expiration date and manual block problems
If your library has enabled the system's quick-alert functionality, you can see potential problems as soon as you retrieve a patron record.

Expanded Display

When the Checkout Patron Display window is populated, an i icon appears in the upper right-hand side of the window. To view more fields in the patron’s record, hover your cursor over the i icon. An expanded display of the patron’s record appears in a pop-up window. For example:

When present in the patron record, the following elements appear in the expanded display:

Name
The PATRN NAME field from the patron record.
Patron Record
The patron's record number.
Barcode
The P BARCODE field from the patron record.
Expiration Date
The EXP DATE field from the patron record.
Address
The ADDRESS field from the patron record.
Birth Date
The BIRTH DATE field from the patron record.
Email Address
The EMAIL ADDRESS field from the patron record.
Telephone
The TELEPHONE field from the patron record,
Patron Unique ID
The UNIQUE ID field from the patron record.
Patron Signature
The PAT SIG field from the patron record.
Home Library
The HOME LIBR field from the patron record.
<PCODE4 field name determined by your library>
The PCODE 4 field from the patron record.
Patron Message
The PMESSAGE field from the patron record.
Manual Block
The MBLOCK field from the patron record.
Number of Overdues
The number of current checkouts attached to the patron record that are past their due dates.
Registration
The REG ON REC field from the patron record.
Claims Returned
The CL RTRND field from the patron record.
Overdue Penalty
The OD PENALTY field from the patron record.
Note
The NOTE field from the patron record.
Message
The MESSAGE field from the patron record.

Viewing & Editing Display

When you view or edit a patron record, the patron record displays in the bibliographic information Record tab. The system displays the fixed- and variable-length fields in the top and bottom portions of the window, respectively. For example:
