Administering Patron Display Options

The options in the Patron Display menu determine the information that Sierra displays for patron records.

The Brief display, Brief display w/address, and Custom display options determine the patron information Sierra displays in the following functions:

Acquisitions - Selectors subfunction in Recommend function
Circulation - Circulation Desk function
ILL - Circulation Desk function

Brief Display: Displays the patron record's NAME, BARCODE, EXP DATE, BIRTH DATE, PTYPE, PCODE4, TELEPHONE, and EMAIL ADDRESS fields in a two-column format.
Brief Display w/Address: Displays the patron record's NAME, BARCODE, EXP DATE, BIRTH DATE, PTYPE, EMAIL ADDRESS, and ADDRESS fields in a two-column format.
Custom Display: Displays the patron record fields specified in the Custom Display Settings list in a single-column format.

The number of columns used in each display is not configurable. (I.e., the Custom Display option always displays the specified record fields in a single column.)

Show Patron Photo (Circulation and ILL only): Includes an area to display patron photographs. If this option is enabled for Circulation, patron photos will appear in the Circulation Desk, Check out to remote site, Check out to visiting patron, and Count Use - Photocopies by Patron functions. If this option is enabled for ILL, patron photos will appear in the Circulation Desk and Enter Requests functions.; If this option is enabled and a patron record does not have a photograph or the system is not properly configured to display patron photographs, Sierra leaves the patron photograph area blank.

Patron Photographs

Circulation and ILL can display patron photographs only if your library has acquired the Patron Images product. For more information, see Patron Images.

Show Patron Signature (Circulation and ILL only): Includes an area to display the patron's signature. If this option is enabled for Circulation, patron signatures will appear in the Circulation Desk, Check out to remote site, Check out to visiting patron, and Count Use - Photocopies by Patron functions. If this option is enabled for ILL, patron signatures will appear in the Circulation Desk and Enter Requests functions.; If this option is enabled and a patron record does not have a signature or the system is not properly configured to display patron signatures, Sierra leaves the patron signature area blank.

PCODE4 Fields

If your library has acquired PCODE4 fields, Sierra includes a PCODE4 field in each of the above displays. Contact Customer Sales for information on acquiring PCODE4 fields.

Circulation displays only the first instance of each variable-length field in the patron display. If a patron record contains multiple instances of a field (for example, a lost patron barcode and a replacement barcode), and you want to ensure that one particular field displays, move the field manually above other occurrences of the same field.

Days before expiration (Circulation and ILL only): Enables Alert for Impending Patron Record Expiration functionality. For more information, see Alert for Impending Patron Record Expiration.
