Cancelling Pending ILL Requests

To cancel a request in the pending requests file:

  1. Choose Pending Requests from the Function list.
  2. Select a request. ILL displays the Edit Request window.
  3. Choose the Cancel icon or Options | Cancel.
  4. (ARTEmail requests only) Choose whether to send a cancellation message to ARTEmail:
    • Choose yes and Next to send a cancellation message. If you choose this option, ILL prompts you to specify additional information before continuing. See Sending Cancellation Messages to ARTEmail for more information.
    • Choose no and Next to continue without sending a cancellation message.
  5. Choose one of the following options:
Print now and delete request in borrower's record now?
Prints a hold cancellation notice immediately, and deletes the ILL request from the requester's record immediately.
Print later and delete in borrower's request later?
Queues a cancellation notice for later printing. When you print the hold cancellation notice, the system deletes the ILL request from the requester's record.
Delete request in borrower's record now, without a message?
Deletes the ILL request from the requester's record immediately. The system does not print a hold cancellation notice now or queue one for later.
  6. Choose Next. ILL displays prompts appropriate to the action you chose:
    • If you chose to print a cancellation notice—either now or later—the system prompts you for text to include in the notice. You can compose a message in the entry box or, if your library has set up ILL messages, you can select a message from the Select ILL message drop-down list and edit that message as necessary. If you want to print an extra copy of the mssage, choose Print before continuing.
    • If you did not choose to print a cancellation notice,ILL displays the following message:

The request will be cancelled. No message will be sent.
  7. Choose Finish to cancel the request. ILL moves the request to the cancelled requests file, performs the additional actions you selected, and displays a confirmation dialog.
  8. Choose OK to return to the Edit Request window.
