Enabling Printing from Express Lane Stations

If you have configured due slip printing in Express Lane, patrons can print due slips for checked-out and renewed items when they end the session.

Fine Payment Receipts for Comprise Ecommerce For Express Lane

If your library has acquired Comprise Ecommerce For Express Lane, the Comprise application generates fine payment receipts.

If either or both of these options is set up, the system prompts you to choose a printer each time you start Express Lane. You can set up each Express Lane station to retain your printer settings, which automatically re-establishes the printer and its settings and prevents the Local Printer Settings dialog box from appearing each time you start Express Lane. If you need to modify retained printer settings, you can access printer settings by entering your library's printer sequence.

Set Printer Settings with a Keyboard

If your library does not provide use a keyboard at Express Lane stations, you must attach one to set up printing.

Choosing a Printer at First Login

When you first log in to an Express Lane station, the system prompts you to select a local printer as your receipt printer. To associate a printer with the Express Lane station, see Choosing a Local Printer. You can change the login's default printer settings in the Printing options.

When choosing receipt printer settings, select the check box for Select local printer on startup. Do not select the Enable direct text printing check box.

Retaining Printer Settings Across Express Lane Sessions

After you have associated printers with your Express Lane stations, you can set up Express Lane to retain your printer settings by selecting the Last used on workstation for login radio button in the login's Printing options. When the Last used on workstation for login button is selected, the system does the following each time you use that login to start Express Lane:

Modifying Retained Printer Settings

When the Last used on workstation for login button is selected, you can change printer settings by launching the Local Printer Settings dialog box from the Welcome screen at the Express Lane station. To do so:

  1. Start Express Lane. The Welcome screen displays.
  2. Enter your library's printer sequence. The Local Printer Settings dialog box displays.
  3. Make your changes. For more information about changing printer settings, see Choosing a Local Printer.
The Printer Sequence

The printer sequence is a series of characters that launches the Local Printer Settings dialog box. The printer sequence is created by your library and is composed of characters (letters and/or numbers) compatible with the input device used to start Express Lane.

Note that to use the printer sequence to launch the Local Printer Settings dialog box, you will need to use an input device that allows you to choose an Enter button, such as a keyboard or keypad—or a library card encoded with the printer sequence.

The default printer sequence is 0987654321. To change the printer sequence:

  1. Choose a sequence of letters and/or numbers compatible with the input device used. Note that the printer sequence must differ from your library's exit sequence and settings sequence.
  2. Contact Innovative to have your printer sequence enabled.
