Item Paging Slips

To print item paging slips, you must be assigned permission 356 (Page Slips). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

By default, Sierra prints one item paging slip for each paged item. If several items are requested from the same location, the system generates a separate item paging slip for each item.

For more information, see the following:

Setup and Functionality Information

Printing as a List
To print item pages as a list of paged items rather than individual paging slips, call Innovative and request the Item Paging List feature.
Paging Slip Extension Feature
To print additional item information on the item paging slip, call Innovative and request the Paging Slip Extension feature.
Including Volume Information
If your library has acquired the Volume Level Holds product, the item information automatically includes the VOLUME field in the volume record (if one exists). If the Paging Slip Extension feature is enabled, the item information includes the VOLUME field in the item record (if one exists).

Customizing Item Paging Slips

Your library can customize item paging slips as follows:

Default Item Paging Slip

Item paging slips contain the following information:

Date of Notice
The date the notice is printed.
Return Address
Up to four lines of the patron's home library address, if available. Your library may choose to use preprinted forms instead of printing this data.
Patron Name and Address
The patron's name and the contents of the ADDRESS or ADDRESS2 field in the patron record, as selected before printing. Before printing, the system gives staff the option to include the patron's telephone number.
Notice Text
Up to fifteen lines of text as defined in the Text of Circulation Notices table. The Pageslips: Text # circulation option specifies which Text of Circulation Notices table entry to use.
Item Information
Information about the requested item as follows:
  • Author (the AUTHOR field in the bibliographic record)
  • Title (the TITLE field in the bibliographic record)
  • Call number information. The system obtains this information from the CALL # field in the item record, or if that field is not present in the item record, in the bibliographic record. If the field does not exist in either record, the system does not print a call number. In addition, this element includes data from the item record's VOLUME field or from the VOLUME field of the volume record to which the item is attached, if any such data exists.
  • Barcode (the BARCODE field in the item record)
  • Item status (the STATUS field in the item record)
  • Item location (the LOCATION field in the item record)
  • Pickup location (the pickup location if different from item location)
  • Hold note (if any)
  • OPAC message (the OPACMSG field in the item record)
Additional Item Information
Item paging slips display additional item information in the following circumstances:
  • If your library has the Paging Slip Extension feature enabled, the item information includes the following additional fields:
    • Imprint (the PUB INFO field in the bibliographic record)
    • Volume (the VOLUME field in the item record)
    • Item record number (the REC NO field in all records)
    • Description (the DESCRIPT field in the bibliographic record)
    • Publication date (the MARC 260|c field in the bibliographic record, if it exists)
To enable the Paging Slip Extension feature, contact Innovative.

  • If your library has acquired the Volume Level Holds product, the item information includes the following additional field:
    • Volume (the VOLUME field in the volume record)
Notice Text Number and Page Number
The number of the Notice Type entry in the Text of Circulation Notices table and the Notice # in the prepared Notices tab, separated by a colon.
