Using Telephone Notification

Your library can use either TALKINGTECH's i-tiva MESSAGE product or Innovative's Teleforms product for telephone delivery of hold pickup and overdue notices.

You can acquire a single i-tiva or Teleforms computer. Alternatively, if it is more cost effective to make calls from remote branch locations, you can acquire multiple telephone notification computers of the same type (i-tiva or Teleforms). The telephone notification computer can be located wherever network access to Sierra is available.

Both i-tiva and Teleforms use real-time access to a dynamic call list hosted on the Sierra server. New notifications can be added to the dynamic call list at any time and are immediately eligible for sending. This means a patron can be notified within minutes of an item's arrival on the holdshelf. Notices that are not sent by telephone can be printed or emailed.

Library staff record telephone notifications using a simple, telephone-based recording studio function. Synthesized voice messages are not used.

The telephone notification system automatically retries busy or unanswered calls at intervals specified by the library. If the call cannot be completed within the specified number of attempts, a printed notice is automatically produced in the next batch of printed notifications. The system's time controls regulate the hours when calls are placed and ensure compliance with automated telephone system regulations.
