Expired holds are those Pickup Anywhere items that have been held for pickup at your library longer than a set expiration period. Note that this period does not exclude days that your library is closed.

The system displays the selected holds.
  3. Select the hold(s) that you want to clear. Note that the system automatically selects any expired holds. If you do not want to process these holds, you must manually deselect them.
  4. Choose the Process button. The system displays the item(s) in the summary table. For each hold that you clear, the system does the following:

    LocationAction
    Patron site
    • Changes the STATUS of the virtual item to '%' (RETURNED).
    • Removes the hold from the patron's hold queue.
    • Retains the virtual item record until the owning site receives the item.
    • Sends a circulation message to the requesting patron's site via the INN-Reach Central Server.
    INN-Reach Central Server
    • Changes the STATUS of the requested item's entry in the Pickup Anywhere database to "RETURNED."
    Owning site
    • Replaces the INN-Reach message in the item record with an "IN TRANSIT" message.
    • Queues a hold cancellation notice for later printing. By default, the system includes the following cancellation reason in the notices generated for these items:

      Pickup time has expired

If you would like to customize this cancellation reason, ask your Central System Administrator to contact Innovative.
