Using Pickup Anywhere for INN-Reach
At Local Servers that have acquired the "Pickup Anywhere for INN-Reach" product, patrons can use WebPAC to request items from the INN-Reach Catalog and have their items delivered to any participating Pickup Anywhere location within the INN-Reach System. Staff at Pickup Anywhere locations can receive and check out materials for patrons that belong to other sites. When they are done borrowing the items, patrons can return Pickup Anywhere items to any participating Pickup Anywhere location in the INN-Reach System.
The system collects data about Pickup Anywhere requests in a Pickup Anywhere database on the INN-Reach Central Server. The Pickup Anywhere database is a merged database of all the Pickup Anywhere transactions generated by the sites in the INN-Reach System. This database supplements the current storage of data and statistics on the INN-Reach Central Server.
Each Pickup Anywhere location is identified by a unique key. The system stores this key in every Pickup Anywhere transaction that it generates for a Pickup Anywhere location. A Pickup Anywhere location can access its own Pickup Anywhere transactions by assigning its key to a login. When an owning site checks out and ships a Pickup Anywhere item, the system adds an entry to the Pickup Anywhere database. The entry contains the key of the Pickup Anywhere location to which the item is being sent. Thus, staff at a Pickup Anywhere location can view only Pickup Anywhere requests that are being, or were, picked up at their Pickup Anywhere location. However, staff can view statistics on any or all of the Pickup Anywhere requests that were made in the INN-Reach System.
