Managing Unpageable ArticleReach Requests
When the patron submits an ArticleReach request, the system attempts to match the citation information to a bibliographic record in the ArticleReach Catalog and create a paging list of potential lending sites. A request is considered unpageable if:
- The system cannot identify a matching bibliographic record in the ArticleReach Catalog.
- The system identifies a matching bibliographic record in the ArticleReach Catalog, but finds no holdings for the requested article.
Your site can be configured to manage unpageable requests placed by your patrons using one of the following methods:
- Automatic Cancellation
- The system automatically cancels the request and notifies the patron of the cancellation.
- ArticleReach Mediation
- If the ArticleReach Mediation feature is enabled for unpageable requests at your site, the system updates the request status to "IN MEDIATION". You can then edit or cancel the mediated request.
- Pass2ILL for ArticleReach
- If your site has acquired the Pass2ILL for ArticleReach product, the system updates the request status to "TO ILL" and forwards request and bibliographic information to your ILL department. Staff can then attempt to fill the request through ILL resources.
Note that your site's setting for managing unpageable requests is independent of your site's setting for managing unfillable requests.
