Forwarding an ArticleReach Request to the ILL Department
The Pass2ILL for ArticleReach product enables you to forward ArticleReach requests for processing via traditional ILL department resources. If your library has acquired this product, the system:
- Automatically forwards request and bibliographic information to your ILL department under the following conditions:
- The request is either unpageable or unfillable, and your library manages such requests via Pass2ILL.
- The request exceeds either a first action threshold or a final action threshold, and the ArticleReach Usage Thresholds feature is configured to manage such requests via Pass2ILL.
- Enables you to forward a request manually if the request is in mediation.
Pass2ILL for ArticleReach can forward the request and bibliographic information to your ILL department by one of the following methods:
- Transferring the request directly to Interlibrary Loan. If your library has acquired ILL, Pass2ILL for ArticleReach transfers the request data directly to the ILL new requests file. Library staff can then manage the request as they would other ILL requests.
- Sending a formatted message (known as the Pass2ILL message) to an email address specified by your ILL department.
When Pass2ILL for ArticleReach forwards a request to the ILL department, it also updates the status of the request to "TO ILL", and the ArticleReach requesting process is considered complete for that request. Staff cannot cancel or attempt to resubmit the request for paging in ArticleReach. The patron must submit the request to ArticleReach again to restart the ArticleReach requesting process.
