Weeding Items

You can use Leap to manage your weeding process. Leap offers a workflow with permissions for staff and managers to take different roles while weeding item or bibliographic records.

To complete the weeding workflow

  1. Create a Weeding Template. To create a weeding template, you need the Weeding templates: Create permission.

  2. View, Edit, or Delete a Weeding Template.

  3. Create a Weeding Record Set. See Create an Empty Record Set.

  4. Find, add, and delete records in the weeding record set. See Modify a Record Set by Adding or Removing Records.

  5. Decide what Weeding Process to Use.

  6. Submit the Weeding Record Set for Review or Approval. To submit a weeding record set for review or approval, you need the Weeding: Submit for approval permission.

  7. Approve or Decline a Weeding Record Set. To approve a weeding record set, you need the Weeding: Approve permission. To decline a weeding record set, you need the Weeding: Decline permission.

    • Approved — An Approved Weeding Record Set moves all records contained in it to a status of Withdrawn or Deleted, depending on the template settings.

    • Declined — A Declined Weeding Record set restarts at step four: "Find, Add, and Delete Records in the Weeding Record Set."

  8. Delete or Undelete a Weeding Record Set. To delete or undelete a weeding record set, you need the Cataloging record sets: Delete/Undelete permission.
