Searching Reserve Lists in the WebPAC
If your library keeps books or other materials on course reserve, patrons and staff can search for these materials by instructor or course name in addition to other indexes offered in your catalog (author, title, subject, etc.).
The WebPAC allows you to create a Search Help page for the Course Name index (index tag 'r') and Professor Name index (index tag 'p'). You can place links to these Search Help pages on any WebPAC page. Most organizations offer these links on the OPAC Menu page.
Suppressed Bibliographic Records
If a bibliographic record is suppressed, the system suppresses the permanent link display to that record from the Course Reserves search help page.
For example, to search for items placed on reserve for a Finance course:
- Click the Course Reserves link.
WebPAC returns the Search Help page for the r index (srchhelp_r.html). - Enter a portion, or all, of the course name into the input box, then click the Search button.
- If there is only one one match on the search query, WebPAC displays the reserve list for that course. If the course has a password, WebPAC prompts for the user to enter the password.
- If there is more than one course that matches the search query, choose the appropriate item from the browse list.
