How Sierra Updates Records Upon Checkout

When you check out an item, the system makes the following changes to the patron and item records:

Updates to the Patron Record

Increments the TOT CHKOUT and CUR CHKOUT fields.
Updates the CUR ITEM<x> fields, if the item falls into one of your library's item categories.
Sets the CIRCACTIVE field to the current date.

Writes the item's due date to the DUE DATE field. For information about how the system determines the item's due date, see How Sierra Calculates the Due Date for a Checkout and Overriding the Calculated Due Date.
Writes the system-calculated loan rule to the LOANRULE field.
Increments the TOT CHKOUT and YTDCIRC fields.
Sets the OUT DATE field to the current date.
Sets the OUT LOC field to the statistics group number of the login used to check out the item.
