Booking Specific Items from the Summary Tab

To choose Search/Holds from the Function list, you must be assigned permission 101 (View bibliographic records). To book an item by choosing the Book Selected Item button, you must be assigned permission 130 (Materials Booking). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

To book a specific item from the Summary tab:

  1. Choose one of the following options from the Function list:
    • Binding
    • Catalog
    • Check In Bound
    • Claim/Cancel Orders
    • Claiming
    • Orders
    • Receive
    • Search/Holds
    • Serials Checkin
    • To Bindery
  2. Retrieve the desired item record.
  3. Choose the Summary tab.
  4. (Optional) Limit the display to:
    • Only those items that belong to your location—Select the Current Location option under the All drop-down list.
    • Current scope—If your library uses scoping, Sierra includes the Current Scope option under the All drop-down list. You can select the Current Scope option to limit the display to only those items that belong to the scope assigned to your login. If your library uses scoping, but Sierra does not display the Current Scope option, contact Innovative.
  5. From the View drop-down list, choose Holds/Bookings.
  6. If there are multiple item records attached to the bibliographic record, select the item record that you want to book.
  7. Choose Book Selected Item. Sierra opens a search window.
  8. Retrieve the desired patron record.
  9. Enter the data for the booking.
