Holds: Print hold cancel notice when cancelling hold

This option determines whether the system generates a hold-cancellation notice for later printing when a library staff member cancels a hold.

The choices for this option are:

1 > ALWAYS
2 > NEVER
3 > ASK

These options determine system behavior as follows:

Setting Action
ALWAYS The system automatically generates hold-cancellation notices. The system prompts the user to specify which message to use in the hold cancellation notice if there is more than one message with a Notice Type of drop hold in the Text of Circulation Notices table.
NEVER The system does not generate hold-cancellation notices under any circumstances. No prompts display to the user.
ASK The system prompts the user to specify whether it generates a hold-cancellation notice each time the user cancels a hold. If there is more than one "drop hold" message in the Text of Circulation Notices table, the system prompts the user to specify which message to use in the hold cancellation notice.

If you use the "ALWAYS" or "ASK" setting, you must create at least one circulation notice whose Notice Type is "drop hold" in the Text of Circulation Notices table. The system displays the prompts to generate a hold cancellation notices only if it finds a drop hold message in the Text of Circulation Notices table.
