Configuring SAML Authentication

To configure SAML authentication, you must be assigned permission 725 (SAML Administrator). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.

Configuring SAML authentication using the Administration Application is available in Sierra 6.1 and later. If you are using an earlier version, contact Innovative to enable this feature.

The SAML Configuration section of the Administration Application contains tools for self-configuring SAML-based authentication for your organization. You can configure authentication for patrons and staff users separately or together using the same identity provider.

The process of configuring SAML authentication involves the following tasks:

  1. Completing Prerequisites
  2. Configuring an Identity Provider
  3. Testing the SAML Configuration
  4. Enabling SAML Authentication
Uploading SSO IDs for Staff SAML

If you are configuring SAML authentication for staff, you can upload SSO IDs in batch.
