Defunct Holds Detail Reports

Defunct holds detail reports are printed reports that contain detailed information about defunct holds. These reports can be printed when clearing the holdshelf and have the following types:

Clearable Holds Detail Report
Contains detailed information about clearable holds. Library staff set the parameters of this report when viewing defunct holds.
Cleared Holds Detail Report
Contains detailed information about cleared holds, including the record number(s) of any defunct holds that could not be cleared. Library staff set the parameters of this report when clearing defunct holds.

The Defunct Holds Detail Reports include the following elements:

Hold Detail (No Additional Holds)
Hold Detail (Additional Holds)
Summary

Header

The first line of each holds detail section indicates which type of defunct holds are listed in the section. Possible values include the following:

Expired Holds for Items not on the Holdshelf
The section contains details about defunct holds for items that do not have a status of '!' (ON HOLDSHELF).
Holds Moved to Next Patron in Queue
(Cleared Holds Detail Report only) The section contains details about holds that the system moved to the next patron in the queue.
Holds to be Moved to Next Patron in Queue
(Clearable Holds Detail Report only) The section contains details about holds that the system would move to the next patron in the queue if you choose to clear the current hold.
Items to be Checked in to Activate Next Hold
The section contains details about title-level holds for items that must be checked in to activate the next hold. Note that this section is present only if Title Priority Paging is enabled at your library.
Items to be Reshelved or Sent IN-TRANSIT to Owning Location
(Cleared Holds Detail Report only) The section contains details about cleared holds for which the items must either be reshelved at the current location or sent to the owning location for reshelving.
Items to be Sent IN-TRANSIT to a New Pickup Location
(Cleared Holds Detail Report only) The section contains details about holds for items that must be sent in-transit to a new pickup location, because the system has transferred the hold to the next patron in the item's hold queue.

Hold Detail (No Additional Holds)

If the defunct hold is the only hold on the item, the detail elements include the following:

PATRON
The patron name. Corresponds to the PATRN NAME variable-length field in the patron record. If the Patron Alias feature is enabled at your library and aliases are entered in the patron records of any patrons listed, patron aliases display in parentheses after the patron name.
TITLE
The title of the item on which the hold was placed. Corresponds to the TITLE variable-length field in the bibliographic record.
CALL NO
The call number of the item on which the hold was placed. Corresponds to the CALL # variable-length field in the item record.
BARCODE
The item barcode. Corresponds to the BARCODE variable-length field in the item record.
PLACED DATE
The date on which the defunct hold was placed.
EXP. DATE
The date on which the hold became defunct.

Hold Detail (Additional Holds)

If there are additional holds on the item, on which the defunct hold was placed, the detail elements include the following:

FROM PATRON
The name of the patron who placed the defunct hold. Corresponds to the PATRN NAME variable-length field in the patron record.
TO PATRON
The name of the patron who placed the next hold in the item's hold queue. Corresponds to the PATRN NAME variable-length field in the patron record.
PHONE
The phone number of the next patron in the item's hold queue. Corresponds to the TELEPHONE variable-length field in the patron record.
TITLE
The title of the item on which the hold was placed. Corresponds to the TITLE variable-length field in the bibliographic record.
CALL NO
The call number of the item on which the hold was placed. Corresponds to the CALL # variable-length field in the item record.
BARCODE
The item barcode. Corresponds to the BARCODE variable-length field in the item record.
PLACED DATE
The date on which the defunct hold was placed.
EXP. DATE
The date on which the hold became defunct.
CUR HOLDSHELF
The location of the holdshelf on which the paged item is currently being held.

Summary

This section of the report categorizes the holds included in the report by the reasons they became defunct. It contains the same elements as the Summary section of the Defunct Hold Summary Report.
