Configuring Held Item Delivery Options
If your library has acquired the Held Item Delivery product, you can configure your system to allow patrons using the WebPAC to specify how they would like to receive their held items.
System Requirements
To use the Held Item Delivery product, your library must:
- use Javascript enabled browsers
- not have the Automatic Checkout feature enabled
By default, the WebPAC allows patrons to choose a pickup location when they request an item. When the Held Item Delivery product is enabled, the WebPAC offers the option to ship to a selected pickup location.
If a patron wants to pick up the item when it becomes available, the patron can select the Pickup Location radio button and then choose a location in the Ship To drop-down list.
REQUEST and REQUEST_MULTI wwwoptions
The current setting of the <Pickup Location> element in the REQUEST or REQUEST_MULTI Web option determines which locations display in the Ship To drop-down list when patrons select the Pickup Location radio button.

Note that the REQUEST and REQUEST_MULTI Web options affect standard requesting and batch requesting, respectively.
To have the item mailed, select the Mail radio button and then choose a location in the Ship To drop-down list. When the Mail radio button is selected, the Ship To drop-down list contains the locations defined in the Held Item delivery table. If a charge was specified for delivery to that location, it appears next to the name of the location in the Ship To drop-down list.
After the patron submits the request, the system determines if it will be honored. In addition to the normal requirements, if the patron choses to have the item mailed, the system checks the Shippable element of the loan rule. The system approves the request only if the Shippable element is set to 'Y.'
Delivery Charge
The system does not apply the delivery charge to a requesting patron until that item is checked out to the patron. For more information, see Held Item Delivery.
