How Cancelling an INN-Reach Hold with No Re-request Works
When the owning site cancels an INN-Reach hold with no re-request, INN-Reach sends cancellation information to both the owning site and the patron site without attempting to identify other potential matches for the request in the INN-Reach Catalog.
At the owning site, the system:
- Updates the item's STATUS to either '-' (AVAILABLE) or 'm' (MISSING) as specified during the cancellation.
- Removes the virtual patron record associated with the item, the INN-Reach hold from the item's hold queue, and the INN-Reach message field from the item record.
- Sends a circulation message to the patron site via the INN-Reach Central Server.
At the patron site, the system:
- Removes the INN-Reach hold from the patron's hold queue.
- Removes the virtual item record either immediately (if the patron site has NOT enabled the printing of hold cancellation notices) or when the patron site prints hold cancellation notices.
- (Optional) Queues a hold cancellation notice for the request.
- (Optional) Automatically forwards the cancelled request data to your ILL department if your site has acquired Pass2ILL for INN-Reach.
