Using Deposit Collections
The Deposit Collections product enables Deposit Collection Libraries to check out Deposit Collection items to member libraries, which then circulate these items among member library patrons before returning them to the Deposit Collection Library. Deposit Collection Libraries are sites that own a collection of materials (Deposit Collection items) that can be temporarily loaned to another site (known as a member library) within the Deposit Collection Library's member network.
A Deposit Collection item on loan to a member library is assigned a new and temporary item record. To distinguish this phase of circulation, an item on loan to a member library is considered a "temporary" item. After a temporary item is returned to the Deposit Collection Library and the original item record is restored, the item is once again considered a Deposit Collection item.
Setting Up the Deposit Collections Product
Before Innovative can enable this product, you must create a patron record for each member library and assign unique P TYPEs that will be used only for Deposit Collection circulation. (See Setting Up the Deposit Collections Product for information on creating member library patron records and assigning P TYPEs.) After you have set up member library patron records, contact Innovative with the list of P TYPEs you have assigned.
