Using the Sticky Status Feature

The Sticky Status field enables your library to define a more permanent status value for item records. You can define this sticky status value in the STICKYSTS fixed-length field in the item record. This status is validated against the same codes defined for the item STATUS field. If a Sticky Status field is defined for an item record, each time that item is checked in, the system sets the item's STATUS field back to the value defined in the item's STICKYSTS field.

Sticky Status functionality applies during checkin in the following Sierra functions and products:

If the Sticky Status feature is enabled, the system checks the item record for the presence of a STICKYSTS field each time you check in an item.

To enable this feature:

  1. Contact Innovative and specify that you want to enable the Sticky Status feature at your library.
  2. Update your desired Sticky Status item records by assigning a status value in the STICKYSTS field (via the Sierra record editor, Rapid Update, or Global Update).
Compatibility with Optional SIP2 Selfcheck Features

Note that the Sticky Status and Update Status for Checked-in Items features are not compatible. If your library would like to use Sticky Status functionality in SIP2 Selfcheck checkin transactions, you must ensure that you do not have the Update Status for Checked-in Items feature enabled at your library.
