Notices: Amount and ptypes for overdue notice charge

This option allows you to charge patrons for printing overdue notices.

To enable this option, you must specify which patrons (by P TYPE) the system should charge for printing overdue notices and the amount that it should charge for each overdue notice that it successfully prints.

When you print overdue notices, the system asks you to verify whether the printout was OK. If you enter 'y' and the Notices: Amount and ptypes for overdue notice charge option is enabled, the system determines whether any of the patron records for whom it printed overdue notices matches the P TYPE number(s) you specified in this option. The system then adds the specified fine to each matching patron record.

Note that the system will not generate notices for the notice charges you impose.

Length Limit

This circulation option accepts up to 60 characters. To include additional patron types in this list, contact Innovative.

Printing Charges for Telephone Notification and Email Notices

Charges for printing overdue notices only apply to patrons who have chosen printed notices as their primary means of notification. Therefore, patrons who prefer to receive overdue notices by email or telephone notification (as specified in the patron records) are not subject to this charge even if Circulation has automatically placed unsuccessful telephone notification notices in the Print queue, and even if you have chosen to print overdue notices.

To enable the overdue notice charge, you must assign values to the following options:

Amount to charge: The amount in cents that the system charges eligible patrons for printing overdue notices (e.g., a value of "1000" represents a $10.00 charge).

Patron type(s): A comma-delimited list of the P TYPE number(s) that the system charges for printing overdue notices. Note that you can specify a range of P TYPE numbers.

The system separates the values that you enter for these options by a colon. For example, the value "1000:1-4,6" indicates that the system will apply a $10.00 fine to any patron record with a P TYPE value of '1', '2', '3', '4',' or '6' for whom an overdue notice was successfully printed.
