Check-out: Print date due slips

In Sierra 5.0 and later, only Express Lane uses these settings. See Configuring Due Slips in Express Lane for more information. Sierra now uses the Due Slip Delivery options to control when and how due slips are generated.

This circulation option can be assigned to users through an options group.

This circulation option controls when date due slips print and determines the initial setting of the Print Slip check box in the following places:

Possible settings for this option include:

Setting Result
Always

The Print Slip check box appears and is selected by default. Due slips print automatically when the table listing checkouts or renewals is cleared. The system prints all items on a single due slip.

Never The Print Slip check box does not appear in any function, and due slips do not print.
Immediately

The Print Slip check box appears and is selected by default. Due date information prints for each item as it is checked out, and then the printer paper advances in preparation for the next checkout. The system prints all items on one due slip and includes patron information at the top of the due slip.

If you use Print Templates, this option behaves the same as the Always setting.

Immediately (MILCIRC)

The Print Slip check box appears and is selected at by default. A due slip prints automatically for each item as it is checked out. The system includes patron information at the top of each due slip printed.

Ask When you select the Circulation Desk or Renew (No Patron) function, the system asks whether due slips should be printed.
  • If you select Yes, Sierra behaves as if set to "Always" (that is, the Print Slip check box appears and is selected, and due slips print automatically when the table listing checkouts or renewals is cleared).
  • If you select No, the Print Slip check box does not display, and due slips do not print. To display the Print Slip check box, select another function, then return to the Circulation Desk or Renew (No Patron) function.
Printing Due Slips When Renewing Items Without a Patron's Record

In the Renew (No Patron) function, if this circulation option is set to a value other than "Never", the system prints due slips as if the circulation option is set to "Immediately (MILCIRC)". Individual due slips print as items are checked out, and patron information displays at the top of each slip. (The Print Slip check box still functions as described above.)

If you set this circulation option to any setting that displays the Print Slip check box, you can clear the box at any time if you do not want to print date due slips. If the Print Slip check box is checked and you have not selected a default printer, the system prompts you to select one.
