Compare inventory to shelf list
The COMPARE inventory to shelf listoption in Admin Corner launches the Inventory Control function, which offers the following options:
Inventory Function P > PRINT shelflist, with circulation status C > COMPARE file of barcodes to shelflist T > TRANSFER file of barcodes to a Review File Q > QUIT Choose one (P,C,T,Q)
The Inventory Control function has three major capabilities:
- Printing a shelf list from the call number file. The list shows the status, barcode, call number, and title of each item in the range. You can compare the printed list with the order in which titles have been actually shelved.
- Comparing the system's internal shelf list to a file of barcodes scanned into the file in their shelved order. The comparison report suggests which items in the file may be mis-shelved.
- Transferring a file of barcodes to a review file.
Inventory Control can inventory a maximum of 5,000 items at one time. Note that some barcode readers may not have the capacity to hold data on 5,000 barcodes.
If books are one inch thick on the average, and there are no empty areas on the shelves, then the Inventory Control feature can produce an inventory report on slightly more than 400 linear feet of shelved books.
