Managing Queries

The default tab in Statistics is Saved Queries.

Select a query by clicking any column within that query's row. After a query is selected, you can:

Queries that previously have been entered and saved appear in the main part of the window. Each item in this list displays the query's name, the login name of the person who created it, the date/time on which it was created, the date/time on which it was last run, and a unique ID that the server uses to track the query and its results.

By default, the list is sorted by the dates in the Last Run column, but it can be sorted based on the contents of any other column by clicking the top row (that is, the header) of the column. Repeated clicking in the top row of any column toggles between an ascending sort and a descending sort. A small triangle pointing either down (for descending sort) or up (for ascending sort) appears in the top row of the column that determines the sort order.

Maximum Saved Queries
  • By default, you can save a maximum of 1000 queries on the server, but Innovative can increase this number upon request. Be aware, however, that as the number of Saved Queries increases, the time it takes for Statistics to display the Saved Queries tab also increases.
  • See Administering Statistics Settings for information on how Statistics acquires user licenses.

Scheduling a Saved Query

The Schedule a query button opens a dialog box in which you can specify a date and time to run the selected query. This provides the ability, for example, to automatically start the data accumulation at a time when the number of users on the server is low, such as during the late night or early morning hours.

You can enter the date directly or select the date box and press the T key to enter today's date, the B key to enter a blank date, or the C key (or double-click in the entry box) to open a calendar window. Enter the time by typing it into the time-of-day box. To select AM or PM, press the A or P key, respectively.

User License

The user license for a scheduled query is taken at the moment when the query begins and is released after the data has been gathered. If a license is not available at the scheduled time, the Results File for that query shows "No License" in the Status column. The query can be restarted manually at any time. See Accumulation Process Licensing for more information on how Statistics acquires user licenses.
