Managing Results
From the Results Files tab, you can view a list of result files created by running queries.
When a query is run, the server starts a process that gathers the data needed to create a results file. The results of each run of a query appear in the main part of the window. One query can be run multiple times, with results for each run appearing as separate entries in this list (distinguished by unique ID numbers). Each item in this list displays the results file name, the current status of the data accumulation process, the login name of the person who created the query, the date/time when the query was last run, and a unique ID that the server uses to track the results.
By default, the list is sorted by the dates in the Run Date column, but you can sort it based on the contents of any other column by clicking the top row (i.e., the header) of the column. Repeated clicking in the top row of any column toggles between an ascending sort and a descending sort. A small triangle pointing either down (for descending sort) or up (for ascending sort) appears in the top row of the column and indicates the sort order.
Select a particular results file by single-clicking any of the columns within that results file's row. Once a query is selected, you can:
- Stop, suspend, or resume a query process
- Choose the View Report button to create a report from the data in the results file
- Choose the View Query button to display the query parameters that created the results file
- Delete or rename a selected results file by choosing the appropriate tool from the toolbar
File Limit
By default, you can save a maximum of 500 results files on the server, but Innovative can increase this number upon request. Be aware, however, that as the number of results files increases, the time it takes for Statistics to display the Results Files tab also increases. To conserve space on the server and to reduce the time it takes to display the Results Files tab, reports should be exported and archived in the exported format rather than archived on the server.
Managing Query Processes
Depending on the complexity of the query and the number of records chosen, it can take anywhere from a few minutes up to several hours to complete processing a query once it is started. If a query process is still gathering data, the results file entry for that query indicates "in progress" in the Status column. The following tools manage the data accumulation process for a selected "in progress" results file:
Suspend - temporarily suspends data accumulation for a selected results file. The user license associated with the data accumulation process is still held while the process is suspended. The process can be restarted with the Resume tool.
Resume - resumes data accumulation for a selected results file if it was halted with the Suspend or Stop tools. Data accumulation resumes at the point at which it left off.
Stop - stops data accumulation for a selected results file. Unlike the Suspend tool, the user license associated with the data accumulation process is released. The process can be restarted with the Resume tool, at which time a new user license is taken.
