Modifying Boxes Individually

The Modify Boxes Individually feature allows you to edit a single box, or make a unique edit for each box in a range of boxes.

For example, if you choose to edit the Public Note or Staff Note field for a range of three boxes, you can enter a different note for each box. By default, a Public Note displays in the WebPAC and in the checkin card box. The Staff Note displays only in the Modify Boxes Individually dialog. To display the Staff Note (instead of the Public Note) in the checkin card, select the Staff Note option in the Display which box note on checkin card option of the Edit tab. Staff Notes cannot display in the WebPAC.

You can also make an identical note in every box in the range. See Updating Boxes as a Group for information on making the same change to every box in a range of boxes.

Note that this menu option displays as View Boxes Individually if you have not been assigned the appropriate permission to edit checkin cards.

  1. Choose Serials Checkin from the Function list.
  2. Retrieve the checkin card.
  3. Select the boxes to edit.
  4. Choose Modify Boxes Individually from the Tools | Box Menu option. Sierra displays the Modify Boxes Individually dialog.

If the checkin card box has associated Item records, the Modify Boxes Individually dialog lists those record numbers.

  1. Edit the desired checkin card fields. See Overview of Checkin Card Fields for more information.
  2. Choose OK to save your changes.

Choose Cancel to exit the current dialog without making any changes.

The system displays a separate Modify Boxes Individually dialog for each checkin card box you are editing. If you are modifying multiple boxes at one time, you can key Esc to exit all of the remaining dialogs without making changes to the remaining boxes.
