Changing the Font

To change font settings, the Login can edit preferences option in your user account must be enabled by someone with the appropriate access in the Administration Application. This displays the Preferences option on the Edit menu.

If necessary, you can customize the default font for various, user interface elements.

For information on changing the record editor's font, see Setting Editor Font Preferences. That process is a little different from the one described below. Most notably, it allows for senior library staff to set the editor's font for users via the Sierra Administration Application.

Customizing the Font Settings

This procedure describes how to customize the font settings for menus, dialog boxes, fields, tabs, tables, and more. Changes you make don't affect other users.

To customize the font settings:

  1. Select EditPreferences.

    The Colors and Fonts tab appears.

  2. Go to Font Settings.
  3. If you're currently using the default font settings, clear Use default font.
  4. Change any of the following:
    • Font: Select a font.
    • Font size: Select a font size.
    • Style: Select Bold, Italic, or both.
  5. Select OK.

Restoring the Default Font Settings

The default font settings apply a monospaced font, an 8-point size, and a normal style (not bold or italic).

To restore the default font settings:

  1. Select EditPreferences.

    The Colors and Fonts tab appears.

  2. Go to Font Settings, and select Use default font.
  3. Select OK.
