Starting the Telephone Renewal System
If your library uses the Telephone Renewal System (TRS), Innovative provides the necessary hardware and software to renew items via telephone (for more information, see System Requirements). To complete the telephone renewal setup and begin accepting calls, you must start the Telephone Renewal System software on your TRS computer as follows:
- Select the Telephone Renewal icon on the desktop.
- If you are starting the software for the first time, or if you have recently reinstalled the software, the system prompts you for the following information:
- Host Name
- Enter the IP address (for example, 255.255.255.255) or fully qualified domain name (for example, catalog.library.org) of your library's Innovative server.
- Port Number
- Enter 4460.
- Number of Lines
- Specify the number of phone lines available for the TRS system (that is, the number of concurrent calls the system can accept at one time). This value is either 2 or 4 and depends on the hardware you have purchased from Innovative.
If you need to change these settings later, you can do so by modifying the telrenew.ini file on your TRS computer. The location of this file varies depending on your TRS computer's operating system and configuration. Use the Windows search function to locate the file.
- When you are finished entering information, choose OK. The Telephone Renewal main menu displays:
If you want to customize telephone renewal messages, choose Record. If you are ready to begin accepting calls, choose Renew.
