Reinstalling the Telephone Renewal Software

If your library uses the Telephone Renewal System (TRS) and you are experiencing problems with your TRS computer, or if you have updated the hardware on the TRS computer, you can reinstall the telephone renewal system software.

Only libraries that use the Telephone Renewal System should follow this procedure. The telephone renewal application must be installed on a computer that meets the system and hardware requirements for the Telephone Renewal System. This procedure must be completed with assistance from Innovative.

Downloading and installing the telephone renewal software will overwrite the software and settings currently installed on the TRS computer, including any custom message files your library has recorded. Be sure to back up the TRS computer before reinstalling the telephone renewal system. For more information, see Managing the Telephone Renewal System.

To reinstall the telephone renewal software:

  1. Disconnect the telephone renewal software and close all applications that are currently running on the TRS computer.
  2. (Optional) Download and reinstall the appropriate Dialogic board driver for your TRS system configuration. You should complete this step only if you are installing a new Dialogic board, migrating to a new computer or platform, or otherwise advised by Innovative.
  3. Obtain a copy of the telephone renewal setup file in one of the following ways:
    • Insert the CD-ROM that accompanied the TRS computer that you purchased from Innovative.
    • Download the file from CSDirect.
  4. Launch the telephone renewal setup file on your computer (for example, by double-clicking on the setup file you downloaded or using the Windows cmd function).
  5. From the Welcome dialog, choose Next.
  6. When prompted to either uninstall or reinstall the telephone renewal software, choose Reinstall.
  7. Accept the default destination directory for the telephone renewal software (C:\Telrenew), then choose Next.
  8. From the Folder Name dialog, choose Next to accept the default folder name for the software.
  9. From the TelRenew Setup Confirmation dialog, choose Next to confirm the setup.
  10. During the installation, the system displays a series of prompts to install third-party products and components. Choose Yes to accept each component.
  11. Restart the TRS computer to complete the installation.

When you next start the telephone renewal software, the system prompts you to enter your library's TRS options. When you next use the Record function, the system prompts you to accept new scanned device settings; choose OK or Yes to proceed.
