How Item Messages Display During Checkout
When you check out an item, Sierra displays messages from the item record. This includes:
- The code in the item's record's IMESSAGE fixed-length field.
- Text from the item record's MESSAGE variable-length fields. If the item record contains more than one MESSAGE field, the number of fields that displays depends on whether your system is configured to show all messages:
- If the Show All Messages feature is enabled, all item record MESSAGE fields display during checkout. (Note that the Show All Messages feature also enables the display of all patron messages where applicable.)
- If the Show All Messages feature is not enabled, only the first (i.e., topmost) MESSAGE field displays during checkout.
