Claiming an INN-Reach Item Returned
If your patron claims to have returned an INN-Reach item, but the system does not indicate that the item has been checked in, you can claim the item returned, updating records at your site, the INN-Reach Central Server, and the owning site. For more information on the records updated, see How Claiming an INN-Reach Item Returned Works.
To claim one or more INN-Reach items as returned by a patron:
- Retrieve the patron record if it is not already displaying.
- View the Checked-Out Items tab:
- Click on the Checked-Out Items tab, or
- Choose the Circulation Desk | Checked-Out Items option from the Go menu
- Select the item(s) to claim returned from the table of items checked out to the patron. If you select multiple items, they are assigned the same claim returned date.
- Choose the Claim Returned button. The system displays a dialog for choosing the claims returned date.
- Select a date or, if the patron does not know when the item was returned, choose the Blank Date button at the bottom of the dialog. Choosing the Blank Date option causes the phrase "Unknown Date" to display in the claims returned note, rather than a date. For example:
Mon Jun 07 1999: Claimed returned .i1170805 on Unknown Date
When you select a date, the system displays the Change Item Status dialog. - Choose Check in items (with no fines) and change status to CLAIMS RTRND. The system displays the following message:
Item was claimed returned.
- Choose OK to clear this message.
