Viewing Hold Queues

To use the Search/Holds function, you must be assigned permission 101 (View bibliographic records). To view a hold queue, you must be assigned permission 45 (Holds management). For more information, see Permissions Used By Sierra.

You can view the following types of hold queues:

To view the hold queue for title, volume, or item holds:

  1. Select one of the following from the Function list:
    • Binding
    • Catalog
    • Check In Bound
    • Claim/Cancel Orders
    • Claiming
    • Orders
    • Receive
    • Search/Holds
    • Serials Checkin
    • To Bindery
  2. Retrieve the bibliographic record for which you want to view the hold queue(s).
  3. Continue as appropriate.
If you want to view the: Do this:
Title-level hold queue

Select the Bib-Level Holds tab.

Volume-level hold queue
  1. In the Summary tab, select the entry for the volume.
  2. Select the Volume-Level Holds tab.
Item-level hold queue
  1. In the Summary tab, select the entry for the item.
  2. Select the Item-Level Holds tab.

If you have specified a Location Served, you can limit your view of the hold queue to the items, volumes, or titles to be picked up from your location. To see the hold queue at your location only, choose the All drop-down list and select Current Location.

  1. (Optional) To view the patron record for a person in the hold queue:
    1. Right-click on the entry, and select View Patron. Sierra displays the patron record in a read-only view.
    2. When finished, click Quit to return to the hold queue.

To view patron records, you must be assigned permission 161(View patron records), 162 (Create patron records), or 164 (Update patron records). See Permissions Used by Sierra for more information.
