How Sierra Fulfills Holds
When you check out a held item, Sierra checks for and attempts to fulfill holds for the current patron. The system fulfills a hold if:
- The hold is at the item level.
- The hold is at the title level or volume level, and the checked-out item can satisfy the hold.
When a checkout fulfills a hold, the system updates the patron and item records as follows:
- Removes the hold from the patron's Holds tab.
- Removes the patron from the item, title, or volume record's hold queue.
- Changes the item's STATUS from '!' (ON HOLDSHELF) to '-' (AVAILABLE), if the item is on the holdshelf for the patron.
