Retrieving More Information about a Selection List Title

For each title under consideration, you can read book reviews or annotations, or do a search of your own library's catalog.

  1. Choose Selection List from the Function drop-down list.
  2. Choose the subset of records to search; review file searches are the most commonly used for selection lists. Note that in the resulting list of titles, only order records with a STATUS of '1' appear.
  3. Select the row of the title for which you want more information. The book jacket automatically displays for the selected row.
  4. Sierra links to external resources in different ways depending on whether you are using WebBridge or Web Links functionality.

If your library is using WebBridge, perform the following steps.
    1. Choose the Select button. The Selection List tab appears.
    2. Choose the WebBridge button on the toolbar. The WebBridge results display in the bottom part of the screen. Depending on how your library has set up the WebBridge links, the resulting display might be divided into two windows. The top window displays links to external resources. The Resolution Server display in the bottom window integrates content from the resource directly into Sierra.
    3. To access one of the external resources listed in the top window, click one of the links. The system launches the associated URL in an open browser window or, if no browser is open, it launches your PC's preferred browser with the specified URL.
    4. If you accessed an external resource, minimize or close the browser window to return to Sierra. From the WebBridge results screen, choose the Summary button on the toolbar to return to the Selection List tab, or the Close button to return to the list of selection titles.

If your library has the Web Links functionality set up, perform the following steps.
    1. Click the book jacket window from either the main Selection List screen or the Selection List tab. The system launches the associated URL set up in your web links file. The system either launches the URL in an open browser window or, if no browser is open, it launches your PC's preferred browser with the specified URL. If your selected title does not have a valid ISBN, the link will not be active.
    2. To return to Sierra, minimize or close the browser window.
