Check in hold at owning loc, pickup elsewhere
You can streamline the checkin process in Circulation for items that meet all of these conditions:
- are checked in at their owning location
- have a hold at a pickup location that does not belong to the owning location's Locations Served
There are three possible choices for this option:
1 > PLACE ITEM IN TRANSIT
Do not prompt with the choice to set the item STATUS to "IN TRANSIT" or "ON HOLDSHELF". The system automatically sets the item in transit and prompts you to place the item in transit.
2 > PLACE ITEM ON HOLDSHELF
Do not prompt with the choice to set the item STATUS to "IN TRANSIT" or "ON HOLDSHELF". The system automatically sets the item status to '!' (ON HOLDSHELF) and prompts you to place the item on the holdshelf at the hold pickup location.
3 > ASK
Prompt with the choice to set the item STATUS to "IN TRANSIT" or "ON HOLDSHELF". This choice does not streamline the checkin process for items checked in at their owning location for pickup elsewhere.
Additional Circulation Option Required for Streamlining
If you set the Check in hold at owning loc, pickup elsewhere circulation option to "PLACE ITEM IN TRANSIT" or "PLACE ITEM ON HOLDSHELF", you must also set the Check-in: Check-in at wrong location circulation option to "ALLOWED".
If the Check-in: Check-in at wrong location circulation option is set to "NOT ALLOWED" or "ASK", Circulation functions as if the Check in hold at owning loc, pickup elsewhere circulation option is set to "ASK".
