Workstation Workform
The Workstation workform displays information about a staff client, Leap, or Polaris® ExpressCheck™ workstation. Each workstation record is associated with a parent organization. See Setting Up Workstations.
Note:
You can set parameters, profiles, and permissions for a workstation directly from the Administration Explorer. See Use the Administration Explorer.
Note:
Library workstations that run Polaris PowerPAC are not ordinarily registered in Polaris, so there are no workstation records for them. However, you can designate them as “in-house” for certain purposes, such as access to e-sources. See Identifying In-House Computers.
- Network and display names - The network name is the computer as it is identified on the network. Click Browse to select the computer from the network. The display name identifies the computer in Polaris workforms such as the Administration Explorer.
- Parent Branch - The branch to which the workstation is assigned. If Leap is enabled for the branch, the Leap check box appears when you select the parent branch.
- Staff client use - Select (check) Enabled to allow this workstation to log on to the staff client.
- Leap use - Select (check) the Leap check box if Leap will be used on this workstation. When you create a new workstation record, the Leap check box does not appear until you select a parent branch for which Leap is enabled.
- To view or set parameters that affect the operation of Leap on the workform, select View, Parameters, Leap.
- To enable automatic polling of RFID tags, set RFID: Auto-poll RFID tags to Yes.
- For a workstation that accesses Leap via the Web but does not have the Polaris staff client installed, the local security manager must be used to operate Leap with RFID and/or a media dispenser unit.
- To use the local security manager for RFID, set RFID: Use local security manager to Yes.
- To use the local security manager for the media dispenser, set Media dispenser: Use local security manager to Yes.
- Leap running in Terminal Services session - Select the Terminal Server check box to identify the terminal server. When this box is checked, the Leap user can select their workstation when they log in so that transactions are logged appropriately.
- Set parameters - Select View, Parameters, or click . For general procedures, see Editing Parameters, Profiles, and Tables. For information about the Polaris ExpressCheck parameter, see the Polaris ExpressCheck Administration Guide.
