Configure localization settings

You can set a default language, configure currency and date formats, and enable the languages that your staff and patrons can select.

Vega provides full default translations of the user interface in the following languages:

  • English (US, UK, CA, NZ, AU)
  • French (FR, CA)
  • Catalan (ES)
  • Chinese (CN, simplified Chinese)
  • Chinese (TW, simplified Chinese)
  • German (DE, CH)
  • Icelandic (IS)
  • Maori (MI)
  • Polish (PL)
  • Spanish (US, ES)
  • Swedish (SE)

Important

If materials in the catalog don't have a coded MARC language field, Vega assumes the materials are in the default language for the purpose of rolling up editions of the same title. If you change the default language, you must run the full MARC extraction process to apply the new default language to the materials that don't have a coded language.

To configure localization settings

  1. To set the default language, do the following:
    1. From the Settings menu, select Localization settings > Configuration.

      2. The Localization settings configuration page opens.

    2. From the Default language list, select the language you want to set as the default.

      3. The list includes every language you have customized.

  2. To override the currency display, do the following:
    1. Select Override currency display.
    2. In the Currency section, select from the list of currencies.
    3. In the Currency location section, select the desired location of the currency symbol relative to the amount.

  3. To override the date format display, do the following:
    1. Select Override date format display.
    2. In the Date format section, select from the following options:
      • Display month first
      • Display day first
  4. To enable languages, do the following:
    1. In the Customize languages section, select the interface that you want these settings to apply to:
      • Patron Interface
      • Staff Interface
    2. Select one or more languages from the list.

      3. If you select multiple languages, Vega displays the default language along with the number of other languages you selected.

  5. Select SAVE.
